Zeroing makes your point of aim match your point of impact, so your rounds land where your sights say they will. You'll zero at 50 yards.
Get stable: shoot prone with support bags, or from a bench with a rest. The goal is to remove as much wobble as possible.
Set up your sights: flip the small rear aperture (diopter) into place for precision. Look through the rear sight and focus on the front post. It should be crisp, while the target and rear sight look slightly blurry. That's normal; your eye can only focus on one plane at a time.
Shoot a group: aim at the same point every time and fire a 3-shot group with a slow, steady trigger press. Then engage the safety and check your target.
Find the center and adjust: circle and number the group, then find its center. Count the grid squares to the bullseye.
Confirm: shoot another group and repeat until your groups land on target. Close enough is good enough for an AR-15.
